When you look at someone young, that you know, but don’t see all the time, it’s always a surprise how much they’ve changed since you last saw them.

You don’t think this when you look at a child you don’t know.

The child that you know you’ve seen grow up, and the image in your head is always behind.

The child you don’t know, is just as they are.

The other person you’ve seen grow is yourself. And although you are probably physically changing a lot slower these days, professionally I bet you are miles away from this time last year.

But because you’ve seen your journey, your image of yourself is also behind.

My point….

You have to act like a more established agency than you think you are.

Why?

Because youarea more established agency than you think you are.

Here’s the difference between how you think, and how the potential client that just contacted you thinks.

When you think about your agency you are picturing both its scrappy beginnings and its current shape.

The average of those 2 points in time is less than you currently are.

This average vision of yourself and your business is biassed and contributes to your imposter syndrome.

But luckily…

The new prospect just sees you as you are today. They are excited and expectant.

You can spoil that if you aren’t careful. If you turn up to that call acting like your vision of yourself, then you drag their view of you down.

Try looking at yourself with fresh eyes. Look at the work you’ve done and all you have achieved. Cover up the logo on your website and imagine this is another agency. Can you see yourself as that prospect does?

Can you turn up and meet their expectations of you?

Because that’s a vision of you that you earned.
