A quick reminder to give them what they want.

Your potential clients, that is. They get in touch asking for something. Give them what they’re asking for. What they woke up that morning needing.

But Dan, these people don’t understand what they want.

They come to us asking for deliverables when they want outcomes.

They come looking for short-term strategies when they need sustainable long-term growth.

They come asking for something their boss will like, but they have no idea if their users want it.

Dan, you’ve misunderstood us. We’re consultative and strategic. We’re evidence-backed. If you want that pointless knee-jerk project done, go to one of the hundreds of (admittedly profitable) agencies that will do it for you.

Because our agency is different.

It has enough authority to take someone with zero demand or awareness of the deep strategic work we do, and, in the short timeframe and limited touchpoints the sales cycle allows, change beliefs they have held for years.

They’ve displayed the thing we need from the world (the motivation to get in touch with us and spend money), we’ll undo that motivation and rebuild it in line with our way of thinking.

A 15-minute initial phone call, a half-hour video call, and a big proposal that they don’t actually read are all we need.

If they choose another agency, so be it! We were about to qualify them out anyway.

They went with who? Urgh, not them. I hate them.

Look at them with their stupid website. Hmmm, they’re still working with that other client we lost to them two years back. Actually, that’s quite nice. Looks like, after doing that initial ****show of a project, they actually saw the light and started investing in what mattered. I guess they must have needed a bit longer to be influenced.

Idiots.

Well, whatever, there’s plenty of business to go round, probably. And we are going for the high end, the sophisticated people who already know what’s important and the process that needs to be followed.

We’ll find the people who know how it all works and yet still for some reason want to pay for someone else to consult with on how it all works.

We’ll find them, you’ll see.

And while we are looking you’ll also see that, under no circumstances, will we be giving anyone what they want.
